Kathmandu. Representatives of Nepal Bankers’ Association and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has met. Representatives of Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) called on Finance Minister Khatiwada today to apprise him of the existing problems in the banking sector.
In a meeting held at the Finance Ministry on April 10, Finance Minister Wagle had urged the bankers to give clear suggestions about the problems facing the banking sector due to the policy-level hurdles.
The office-bearers of the Bankers’ Association have drawn the attention of Finance Minister Wagle towards various complexities seen in the banking sector at present and put forth the demand for significant reforms.
They have called for a review of the provision of bad loans, facilitation in taking recommendation from local level for management of non-banking assets and facilitation of paying tax from outstanding income.
The banks said that these provisions have increased pressure on financial management and that policy reforms are necessary.
