“It is wrong to try to run the country on foreign grants and loans.

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) lawmaker Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has insisted on the need of fact-based intellectual discourse in the parliament for the overall development of the country. Speaking in the special hour of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he said it was wrong to run the country only on foreign grants and loans.

“Today, middlemen and neoliberalism have dominated the country’s economy. The country cannot move forward without developing a production-oriented economy and national capital. The country should not be run only on foreign grants and loans. The government should take concrete steps in this direction to develop a self-reliant economy,” he said.

He also urged the government to take forward the international relations only on the basis of the Panchasheel Principle and non-aligned foreign policy keeping in mind Nepal’s geo-political sensitivity.
