Kathmandu. Lumbini Bikas Bank has finally agreed to pay 1 percent additional tax to Lumbini Development Bank by withdrawing the case from the Inland Revenue Department, Lazimpat, Kathmandu, and the Large Taxpayers Office, Harihar Bhawan, Kathmandu. The bank has agreed to pay the tax by withdrawing the case from the Supreme Court.
This time, the government has made aprovision to waive the fees, fines, additional fees, late fees or interestby adding 1 percent to the tax determined in the budget and adding 1 percent }.
The bank had filed an application at the Supreme Court to withdraw the case filed by saying that it was ready to pay the old tax by adding 1 percent.
A joint bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Nityanand Pandey passed the order on September 29. The case filed by the bank’s Chief Executive Officer Suman Aryal raised issues related to income tax advance tax (FY 2070-71), (2071-72), (2072-73) and miscellaneous.
According to the order, Krishna Bahadur Ghimire, who was authorized on behalf of the petitioner, had filed an application for withdrawal of the case as the validity of the petition had ended. The court allowed the withdrawal of the case under Section 196 of the Civil Procedure Code, 2074 after it was found that he had also verified.
The Supreme Court has also ordered that the file be compiled and submitted to the Records Section as per the rules. See also:
