You must have heard a lot of such discussions and complaints on social media. You must have seen that some people have commented that a corporate company like Ncell does not do such fraud. But no, the issue of Ncell defrauding customers by deducting money in this way is no longer an accusation, it has been proved to be true. A 5-member team formed under the leadership of Tanka Mani Sharma Dangal by the then Prachanda government to investigate the mischief of Ncell has revealed the list of fraud of Ncell. The regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has taken action against Ncell after it was proved that Ncell had cheated more than Rs 1 billion by stealing the customer’s money. This has not only exposed the extent to which Ncell has been cheating customers, how much Ncell has been fooling its customers and how it has been cheating customers under the cover of Ncell Corporate House.
Ncell takes action after confirming customer fraud, directs it to return the cheated amount with interest!
Nepal Telecommunication Authority’s Decision No. Ncell seems to have been taken action against 4343. It has been established that Ncell has committed an offence as per Section 47 (1) of the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS as it was seen that the auto renewal was done without the prior approval of the customers against the directives of the Authority and the procedures issued by the Authority. With the same conclusion of the Authority, it seems that the Authority has taken action against Ncell by exercising the rights given by the Telecommunication Act, 2053.

In the details of the action, NTA has clearly instructed Ncell to return the cheating amount of Rs 1.11 billion 12 million 67 thousand 651 10 and its interest to the customers within 3 months. The NRA has also directed the NRA to provide the details of the refunded amount to the NRA on a monthly basis. Not only to refund the money to the customers, but also to inform the customers through appropriate media to come to return the amount of pack types of Daily Renewal, 3-Days Renewal, Weekly Renewal and Monthly Renewal and to set up a separate fund and deposit the amount in the fund and inform the Authority about the same. The authority has also decided to impose a fine of Rs 50,000 on Ncell as per the provision of sub-section (1) of Section 47 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS for such misconduct.
NEA has also asked for details of how much Ncell has recovered from such fraud. It has also been clearly mentioned in the action details taken by the Authority to take consent if the amount is to be deducted, otherwise stop such services and inform about it, and return the amount of the customers who have already taken this service to their mobile number.

The authority had directed Ncell not to use different terminology in the subscription page, SMS notification message, Ncell Mobile App, CDR, billing system while operating various VAS services and services including Voice/Data Package/Plan. It has also been found that the authority has also directed Ncell to provide information on the Ncell Mobile App so that it is not possible to see which value-added services the customer has subscribed to, how much rate is being charged.
Although the authority has asked Ncell to inform the media about this, the consumers have complained that the company has not given such clear information.TAG_OPEN_div_22 Consumers claim that they have not received any information from the customers that the amount has been returned even though the authority has asked them to return the amount with interest. Ncell has also not mentioned anywhere that it has returned the amount it had cheated. According to the report, the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has taken action against Ncell in the case of cheating customers of more than one billion rupees by Ncell, which has been defying the directives of the regulatory authority time and again.
