Kathmandu. Citizens Bank International Limited has received the ‘Bank of the Year 2025 – Nepal’ award from the prestigious magazine ‘The Banker’ published under the Financial Times Group of the UK. This is the second consecutive year that the bank has consolidated its position as one of the leading commercial banks of Nepal.
The award was received by the bank’s Chairman Mr. Prabal Jung Pandey and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Ganesh Raj Pokharel. The event was attended by over 400 presidents, CEOs and senior banking executives from over 125 countries.
Earlier, Citizens Bank had won the Bank of the Year award 2024. This is the second consecutive year of successive success, a testament to the Bank’s superior financial performance, good governance, innovation and customer care in the international arena.
After receiving the award, Chairman Prabal Jung Pandey said, “It is a matter of pride for the Nepali banking sector to be honored by the world-renowned institution for the second consecutive year. He also assured that the bank’s commitment towards customer-friendly, modern and responsible banking services would be further strengthened in the days ahead.
Similarly, CEO Ganesh Raj Pokharel credited the success to the collective efforts of regulators, shareholders, customers, employees and all stakeholders. He expressed the commitment that the bank would expand its services in the coming days by giving priority to good governance, prudent banking practices and green banking.
Since 2002, The Banker has awarded only nine banks in Nepal with the Bank of the Year award. Each year, winners are selected on the basis of the Bank’s financial performance, good governance, innovation, digital transformation and ability to solve challenges.
In recent years, Citizens Bank has introduced innovative digital offerings such as ‘Citizens FonePay Credit Card’, ‘Citizens Gen-Z Saving Account’, ‘Citizens Digibank Service’, Share Application through Mobile Banking (Mero Share/ASBA) and CRN service, and cross-bank teller QR facility facility that enables customers to withdraw cash through QR counter. In addition, the bank has launched a freelancer savings account.
Currently, Citizens Bank has been serving more than 19.56 million customers through a network of 200 branches, 169 ATMs, three extension counters and 42 branchless banking units spread across 61 districts of the country.
