Nepal Insurance Authority signs MoU with Morang Campus

Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) and Morang Campus have signed an Internship and Intellectual Agreement. An agreement has been signed between Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus, Biratnagar and Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Provincial Office, Biratnagar, to provide an opportunity to the students to practice their theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom.

As per the agreement, the students studying in the campus will get an opportunity to do internship at the Koshi Province Office of the Nepal Insurance Authority, Biratnagar. Through the internship, the students are expected to gain first-hand experience in the organizational structure, working system, policy, service delivery and regulation of the insurance sector, said Rajendra Maharjan, Chief of Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province. He expressed the belief that the students will be able to understand the status of insurance, research in the insurance sector and employment in the insurance sector in the coming days.

Speaking on the occasion, Maharjan said that the agreement was taken as an important step to further strengthen the cooperation between the education and business sectors and it was expected to enhance the practical knowledge of the students and also contribute to the development of skilled manpower required for the insurance sector. He said that the authority will also carry out insurance education and awareness among the students in the college as a subject expert. It was informed on the occasion that the authority will also conduct insurance awareness among the students from time to time as per the need.

Dr. Ramavatar Sharan, Chief of Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus, said that such collaborations are necessary to enhance the practical skills along with the educational development of the students. Professor Achyut Raj Kattel said that if the agreement program can give the students of higher education experience in the field of study, their capacity, self-confidence and professional skills will be more effective.

Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) has said that for the development of the insurance sector, skilled manpower should be produced, as well as increasing insurance awareness and regulating the insurance sector and spreading knowledge and awareness among the younger generation. The authority believes that the collaboration with educational institutions will help students to understand the opportunities and challenges of the insurance sector closely.

The internship program for college students is expected to help bridge the gap between studies and employment. In addition, it will provide students with the opportunity to gain the necessary skills and experience to build their careers in the insurance, banking, and financial sectors in the future.
