Kathmandu. Lawmakers have demanded the government to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in order to curb illegal wealth and black money stashed in the country. The MPs made this demand while speaking in the House of Representatives.
Similarly, Rastriya Samajwadi Party lawmaker Yagyamani Neupane said that there is no alternative to demonetization to bring the money accumulated through corruption into the banking system or turn it into ashes.
“The government should immediately demonetize and issue new currency notes to turn the money hidden by the corrupt into ashes and take the country forward on the path of good governance,” he said. ‘
Supporting his proposal, Chief Whip of the Communist Party of Nepal, Yuvraj Dulal, expressed his support to the proposal. Dulal has also said that his party is ready to launch a signature campaign of lawmakers for demonetization if needed.
