26 employees of 8 banks out of contact in Rasuwa floods

Kathmandu. More than a dozen branches of banks and financial institutions in Timure of Rasuwa and Betrawati of Nuwakot have been affected by the floods from the Tibet region of China. It has also been revealed that 26 employees of 8 banks have gone out of contact in the Rasuwa floods.

According to Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA), branches of nine commercial banks including Nepal Investment Mega, Nabil, Laxmi Sunrise, Global IME, Himalayan Bank, NMB Bank, Prabhu Bank and Machhapuchchhre have been affected by the floods.

Preliminary information has been received that some branches have suffered major damages while some structures have been swept away by the floods.

Santosh Koirala, president of Nepal Bankers’ Association, said efforts were underway to contact the employees and collect details of the damages.

The Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions (CFI) has also said that at present, it has given priority to getting information about the condition of employees and rescue coordination rather than the details of physical damage.
