Kathmandu. The chairman of Tripurasundari Municipality-2 in Dolpa has been arrested on a banking fraud case. The arrested has been identified as Tanka Bahadur Thapa, the ward chairman of the municipality.
A team from the District Police Office, Dolpa arrested Thapa from Bagar Bazaar of Tripurasundari Municipality-1 on Monday.
After his arrest, he was produced before the District Court, Dolpa. The court has extended the remand of Thapa for seven days for investigation into the banking fraud case, said Padam Rawal, information officer and police inspector at the District Police Office, Dolpa.
According to the police, further investigation into the incident is underway. Thapa was elected the ward chairman of Tripurasundari Municipality-2 on a CPN-UML ticket in the local level elections of 2079 BS.
