Kathmandu. A Japanese bank has become the first bank to test an AI system. Japan’s three largest banks — MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) and Mizuho Bank — are gaining exclusive access to new, highly restrictive AI models of Open AI.
Through OpenAI’s trusted access channel for cyber, banks are proactively using these frontier models to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen defenses against advanced, AI-powered cyberattacks.
Financial Services Minister Katayama made the revelation after a meeting with OpenAI executives. On May 29, the Japanese government gave US-based OpenAI access to its latest artificial intelligence technology to a select group of Japan’s leading financial institutions.
