Banking Sansar Editorial: Is a banker’s life worth one crore and a small job? Let’s be serious!

Some time ago, an employee of Kumari Bank was found dead in the forest.TAG_OPEN_div_12 Bharat Thapa, an employee of the bank’s audit department, killed himself because he could not bear the stress. Unable to bear the stress of the bank, his family approached the police saying that he had committed suicide. However, the investigation has not yet progressed. Instead, the wife of the deceased was given a job and had the audacity to cover up the case. Fearing that he would go to jail, the CEO of Kumari Bank, Ram Chandra Khanal, gave a job to the wife of the deceased on the basis that there was no provision in the employee bylaw. The case was tried to be solved as if it had not happened. After the death of the breadwinner in the house, the wife of the deceased had no option but to compromise on the same job.

But, is that the price of a banker’s life? Why did he die? Why was he forced to make such a cruel decision to kill himself? Who forced him to die? Don’t you need an answer to this? Now, if another person dies in the same way tomorrow, will his wife be given a job and everything else will be sorted out? Is this justice? Shouldn’t there be any investigation against the head of his department? Shouldn’t its CEO be under investigation? When the account of two to four thousand rupees goes wrong, the lower level employees of the bank get a banking offense and even when a banker dies, his bosses are not investigated, is there such discrimination in the rule of law? Isn’t that the limit?

No one was serious in the case of Kumari Bank. As a result, Pitambar Khadka chose the same path. I don’t know how many more Bharat Thapa will be found dead in the forest. How many Pitambars will be trapped? And will the bank employees continue to die because they cannot bear the pressure, and the bank will continue to settle the case by showing the greed of jobs and a few crores? And the compulsive family, instead of having nothing, being helpless for the same job? Isn’t this country for them? Don’t they have any contribution to the banking system of this country? Isn’t their sweat mixed with the profits made by the bank?

Bharat and Pitambar are dead, many bankers are dying here even after living. If they also die like this tomorrow, will they not investigate and settle the case by giving them jobs and some money? Has the job of a banker become so cheap? Isn’t it time to think seriously? Is a banker’s life worth one crore and a ‘nathe’ job? The government and the central bank should be serious. We don’t have to tell the news of the banker’s death again.
