It was found that Rs 34,80,000 was cheated by opening the link by remembering the bank&#8217;s SMS. According to the information made public by the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, a gang has been active in the last few months targeting the users of banks and digital wallets by sending SMS that look like &#8216;The Alert&#8217;. <\/p>\n<p>The message would send a link saying &#8216;your account is blocked&#8217;, &#8216;update KYC&#8217; or &#8216;Verify your account&#8217;. Many customers opened the link thinking it was the bank&#8217;s message, entered the username, password and OTP of the mobile banking. The fraudsters then gained access to the accounts and withdrew money through various bank accounts and digital wallets. <\/p>\n<p>The Cyber Bureau had filed a case against 13 people on the charge of cheating Rs 34.80 lakh. Do not click on the link in the SMS that looks like it comes from the name of the bank.
